Rotary is a global network of neighbours, friends and problem-solvers who exchange ideas and take action to make lasting change — in their own communities and around the world.
What Rotary is
Rotary International brings together over a million members in more than 46,000 clubs worldwide. Members meet regularly, form friendships, and put their professional skills behind service projects that address real needs. Clubs are self-governing: each one chooses its own projects, raises its own funds, and elects its own leadership annually.
Every club belongs to a district. Ours is District 3150, which covers clubs across this region and coordinates larger projects, training and grants that no single club could take on alone.
The Object of Rotary
Rotary sets out its purpose as the encouragement of service as a worthy enterprise, developed along four lines:
- Club service — building acquaintance as an opportunity for service, and the fellowship that makes a club work.
- Vocational service — holding high ethical standards in business and professions, and using one’s occupation as an opportunity to serve society.
- Community service — applying that ideal of service in personal, business and community life.
- International service — advancing understanding, goodwill and peace through a world fellowship of people united in the ideal of service.
The Four-Way Test
Adopted by Rotary in 1943 and still used by members worldwide, the Four-Way Test asks four questions of the things we think, say or do: whether it is truthful; whether it is fair to everyone concerned; whether it will build goodwill and better friendships; and whether it will be beneficial to all concerned.
Twenty-four words, and they have outlasted every management fashion since. Members are asked to apply them in business as much as in service work.

Visiting
Visitors are welcome at any regular meeting. There is no obligation and no cost to attend — come, meet the members, see what a club evening is actually like, and decide afterwards.
Rotarians travelling from other clubs are welcome too. Make-up attendance is recognised across all Rotary clubs worldwide.
